I used to think I needed to eat less and train harder but most of the change in my leanness came from reducing inflammation&stress on my body. A lot of people are trying to lose fat while their body is already stressed, inflamed and overwhelmed. And then they wonder why: • they feel constantly bloated • their energy is low • they crave sugar all the time • they can’t recover properly • fat loss feels impossible • their body is holding onto weight Your body doesn’t just respond to calories, it responds to stress, sleep, recovery, hormones, gut health and inflammation too. You cannot expect your body to thrive if you’re: under-eating, overtraining, sleeping badly, constantly stressed and living off processed foods. Things that genuinely helped me: * eating enough protein & whole foods * sleeping properly (7-9 hours every night) * reducing ultra processed foods * eating the same meals/foods everyday * managing stress/cortisol * walking daily (7-10k steps) * improving digestion * drinking more water Dietary Changes: Prioritize anti-inflammatory foods, including vegetables (lots of pickled veg), fruits, and healthy fats (peanut butter&avocados) while limiting processed foods, sugar, and salt. Targeted Nutrition: Incorporate foods with ginger, turmeric, or green tea to aid digestion and reduce inflammation. Exercise: Regular physical activity, especially combining cardio and resistance training, is highly effective at reducing inflammation. Lifestyle Factors: Manage cortisol (stress hormone) through sleep and stress reduction, which can help decrease belly fat and inflammation. Fat loss became easier when I started supporting my body. Progress update! Different mindset, discipline, and standards. No extremes. No shortcuts. Just training with intention, fuelling my body properly, and staying consistent even when motivation wasn’t there. The goal was never to be smaller. It was to become stronger, healthier, and more confident. I only lost 3kg, but managed to maintain a lot of muscle. Fixing my diet and allowing for recovery has made this difference. People think the gym is the hard part… but training is only 20%. The other 80% is: showing up on the days you can’t be bothered, eating properly even when it’s inconvenient, recovering well, sleeping enough, managing stress, and staying consistent for months.
